US: Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.4% while S&P 500 rose 0.4%, with utilities leading nine sectors higher and energy lagging. US Producer Price Index rose 0.2% in July while US Industrial production also shot up 0.6%, both beating estimates.

Europe: European stocks closed flat to lower, as investors eyed a key European meeting on Greece’s hoped-for third bailout program. Most major country bourses closed lower on both the day and the week. French CAC fell 0.6%, with Germany’s DAX and UK’s FTSE 100 ended down 0.3% each. Eurozone economy grew by 0.3% QoQ in the 2Q, narrowly missing expectations.  

Asia: Asian shares turned mostly lower, as investors weighed the China’s move to trade within a 2% of where China’s central bank sets it against the dollar but the band should set its fixing close to the yuan’s previous close going forward. China’s Shanghai Composite narrowed gains to 0.3% while Hang Seng index ticked down 0.1% in rangebound trade.
